Terra Testing, LLC (Terra) was incorporated on November 14, 1977, in the State of Texas (Texas Registered Engineering Firm F-4444). For the last 40 years Terra has been providing professional engineering and testing services for the engineering construction industry in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma. Terra specializes in geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing and inspection, and environmental services. These services are delivered on a timely manner with consistently high value and personal attention to the Clients’ needs.

All our technicians regularly undergo in-house training and refresher programs.
Terra participates in the following Proficiency Sample Program instituted by AASHTO Material Reference Laboratory (AMRL), Cement and Concrete Reference Laboratory (CCRL) and Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
Annually two (2) samples of each material are distributed to over 500 laboratories in the US and abroad and are tested as per ASTM standards. Once all the test results are received at AMRL or CCRL, average and standard deviation for each ASTM test is calculated. Each laboratory is rated based on how much the specific laboratory’s test result deviates from the average.
Terra maintains accreditation with AASHTO Material Reference Laboratory (AMRL) and USACE.

GEOTECHNICAL DRILLING SERVICES
Design and construction of functional, cost-effective structures require a thorough understanding of local soil, rock and groundwater conditions. At TERRA we strongly believe that drilling, sampling and field testing requires expertise to meet exacting standards and perform every task with accuracy and without compromising results.
The method and precision of obtaining data directly influences the decision of foundation recommendations of that specific site. Therefore, unlike other geotechnical firms, TERRA owns and operates a fleet of three (3) TxDOT certified drill rigs, and the dynamic penetrometers are energy calibrated in accordance with ASTM D 4633. Our Lead Drillers have over 25 years of experience and are NICET & TWDB certified. Since, TERRA owns and operates our own equipment, the result is a controlled response to the project schedule which helps to maintain a good customer service.

CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL TESTING
Construction of a project is a major investment and Terra has the experience and expertise to make sure it is constructed the way the design team has intended and ensure that the construction materials meet the standards. That is why Quality Construction Observation and Testing services performed by qualified, experienced and certified Technicians is very important because it provides a measure of due diligence that is documented.
Terra’s cross-trained field Technicians have over 20 years of experience and training in Construction Observation and Testing and are certified by following agencies:
- National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technology (NICET)
- American Concrete Institute (ACI)
- Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)

Terra’s certified Technician can provide a complete review of concrete batching operations, placement & curing procedures. Throughout the construction process, field and laboratory testing can be used, when appropriate, to determine the field properties and potential strength of the recently placed concrete to expedite construction schedules and keep the project on track. Terra’s professionals and certified Technicians can:
- Observe and document the concrete placement conditions
- Sample fresh concrete on site for air content, slump, temperature and unit weight
- Make cylinders and beams for strength tests
- Evaluate hardened in-place concrete for deficiencies
- Evaluate and provide recommendations for special material such as grout & lightweight concrete
- Perform mix designs in accordance with ACI and ASTM standards
Asphalt field and laboratory testing services can be performed to document that the asphalt pavement system is placed and constructed in accordance with the projects specifications and plans. Terra’s certified Technicians can provide:
